Aerodrome Safety Manager

The chosen candidate will be accountable for the following role and responsibilities:

• Provide information and advice to senior management on matters relating to the safety of aerodrome operations;
• Engage in aerodrome safety staff development;
• Assure that all aerodrome documentation is current and consistent with regulations;
• Lead the process for quality assurance certification of safety management processes;
• Perform airside and landside inspections to identify deficiencies and initiate corrective action if and when required;
• Inspect work performed by Airport Departments, subcontracted personnel, and construction activities to ensure compliance with aerodrome safety procedures; and
• Represent the Company on government, international organisation and industry committees e.g. EASA, ICAO, IATA and assure that EASA Aerodrome Certification is maintained.
The ideal candidate should have:
• At least a diploma or the equivalent in a related field;
• An ICAO / EASA Aerodrome SMS Course or equivalent qualifications;
• Experience in the Aviation environment;
• Proven knowledge and be up to date with Aviation Legislation, EASA regulation and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices;
• Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of airport operations;
• Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and be able to relate to all levels, both inside and outside the organization;
• Ability to cope with changing circumstances and work with little or no supervision;
• Good analytical skills; and
• Leadership skills and an authoritative approach.
